Description
Model History
Released in 2006, the B7 RS4 was the second generation of Audi’s RS4 performance model based on the B7 generation A4. Available as a four-door sedan, a five-door estate, and a two-door convertible, the RS4 Avant served as a close rival to a similar V8-powered, high performance German estate, the C63 AMG Estate (S204). Under the aluminium bonnet sat a 4.2L naturally aspirated FSI V8 producing 414bhp, coupled to a 6-Speed manual gearbox and Audi’s trademark ‘Quattro’ all-wheel drive system. 0-100 km/h could be achieved in just 4.8 seconds. Although subtle and unassuming, the B7 RS4 Avant is one of the best packaged Avant estate models in Audi’s history.
History File
This is a 2007 Audi (B7) RS4 Avant, finished in Phantom Black Pearl Effect with a Black interior. This was originally imported and sold as an Audi Hong Kong car. The seller reports they acquired this car through a friend in 2015, using this RS4 Avant primarily as their family car under their ownership.
Modifications reported on this car are limited to KW V3+ suspension as well as new Audi A4 side skirts – the engine, drivetrain, and interior have remained unmodified.
An extensive service history has been kept on record and can be provided on request, including the original Audi service booklet. Highlights by the seller include the following: in 2013, all of the suspension arms were replaced. New shocks were installed in August 2015. The fuel pump was replaced in December 2016. The Audi factory passenger airbag recall fix was carried out in August 2019. Between 2018 to 2021, the CV boot was replaced. A new battery was installed sometime in 2020 and in 2021, the air-conditioning compressor and pump were replaced. In February 2023, a full carbon cleanse of the engine was carried out, as well as a routine oil change, as well as a replacement of the vacuum hoses, coolant tank, and the installation of a new clutch, brake units, and all four suspension bushings. The seller states a replacement of the spark plugs is recommended for the next service.
Imperfections the seller reports on this car include the following: The driver’s side powered bolster does not operate (they report the fault has been present since they acquired the car). Some of the interior rubber/plastic trim above the right taillight does show signs of age, there is a very subtle surface crack in the windscreen (this does not affect passing MOT inspections), both front headlights could benefit from a refurbishment, and there is kerb rash present on all of the RS4 alloy wheels. There are also some stone chips from regular use visible on the front section. The seller also reports that a small scratch on the front passenger door was rectified and resprayed by Audi Hong Kong previously – aside from this, all of the original body panels carry their original paint coat.
All of the original RS4 owners’ literature have been kept with this car, and two keys will be provided, as well as the original RS4 suspension units and original carbon fibre engine cover (the seller has removed it at this time due to its current surface wear). This car has had three previous owners, has a current mileage of 95,421 km, and the current road licence is valid until 15th April, 2024.
Exterior
Upon visual inspection, the Phantom Black Pearl Effect bodywork is in great condition with no major surface blemishes observed. There are some visible stone chips visible on the front section as reported by the seller, but all of the RS4 exclusive body styling – the front and rear bumpers, extended wide body fenders, and prominent Audi front grille are otherwise in great condition. The front headlights can benefit from a refurbishment to remove their surface cloudiness, but otherwise illuminate normally – the same applies for the rear tail lights and side markers. Both front and rear side doors, the bonnet and rear hatch lid open and close normally. The exterior roof rails are all intact. The sunroof opens and closes normally. All four RS4 wheels do have some visible kerb rash, but can benefit from a refurbishment to restore the original appearance – none of them carry any serious damage in their surfaces. The signature matte aluminium side mirrors and trim look factory fresh and the same goes for the exterior badges.
Interior and Trim
Step inside and the RS4’s subtle yet sporty and driver-focused interior greets you. Both front bucket seats with RS4 logos embedded in the headrests remain firm and supportive of both occupants with only a subtle amount of creases from use over time – all of the rear leather seats are also in great condition. All portions of the dashboard are free of any major surface scratches – the carbon fibre trim is in great condition and all intact. The leather gear shift knob and handbrake lever are in great condition with no major surface damage. All of the side door panels and lower scuff plates are in great condition with no major surface damage. The original ‘Audi Symphony’ audio system functions normally and its display is clear to read. All of the interior buttons and switchgear show no surface tiredness and all remain solid to touch. There is some subtle surface oxidation observed in the instrument cluster’s LCD display, but all of the important information is still legible to the driver and all the functions operate normally – all of the instrument cluster dials operate as well as they should.
Engine and Running Gear
Turn the key and this RS4 Avant’s signature piece, the 4.2L naturally-aspirated FSI V8 engine comes to life instantly in a sedate manner. Thanks to the upkeep and maintenance this car has received, the seller reports this RS4 Avant is in great mechanical order and drives fine without any major issues to note of. The tyres grip this ‘practical’ supercar through the bends thanks to the ‘Quattro’ four wheel drive system, and at 5,500 RPM, the 4.2L V8 comes to life and propels this RS4 to 8,000 RPM in no time. Every shift of the gear from the 6-Speed manual transmission was smooth and precise to use with each gear change – all of the inputs from the steering and pedals remain accurate and communicative with the driver. Thanks to the KW V3+ suspension installed on this example, the ride remains composed and stable when pushed through any degree of corners at speed, but not too harsh to offer the comfort of a family estate. All of the brakes provide plenty of stopping power to bring this Audi performance estate to a halt. For those looking for a practical Audi estate featuring a potent 4.2L V8 and a 6-Speed manual, paired with Audi’s legendary ‘Quattro’ four wheel drive system, the B7 RS4 Avant is the perfect option – such as this one now available at the Car Farm.
