Model History
In 2004, Ferrari introduced the F430, the successor of the Ferrari 360. With a redesigned exterior, most noticeably the sharper front end with air ducts inspired by the 1961 156 F1 car driven by Phil Hill, and the rear lights raised, shared with the taillights from the Ferrari Enzo – with all of this done, although the drag coefficient remained the same, the downforce was greatly enhanced. It featured the Alcoa-developed aluminium space frame designed chassis as seen in the 360 and its new power plant – the F136 engine a 4.3L V8 that was the result of a collaboration between Ferrari and Maserati, featuring dual camshafts, four valves per cylinder with variable valve timing – producing 483hp at 8,500rpm, matched with either a 6-Speed F1 transmission or traditional 6-Speed manual transmission. The F430 is an appreciating classic, marking the change of the new era Ferrari V8s, sharp design and renown handling.
History File
Presented to you at the Car Farm is an original Hong Kong car from Italian Motors (Sales & Service) 2006 Nero Daytona Ferrari F430 F1. Replaced parts include the left and right hand side fuel pumps (along with a pair of fuel pump gaskets), handbrake pads, complete oil return tubes, ball joints, tie rods, engine hood struts and serpentine belt. In addition to the replacement of parts, the F1 transmission and ABS module have underwent a diagnosis along with regular oil service, including an engine and transmission oil service, with a new oil filter, battery, wipers and brake fluid. For the interior, brand new window switches have been installed. This example has 6 previous owners, a current mileage of 37,136km and a valid road license until 9th September, 2022 – ready for its new keeper to drive and enjoy.
Exterior
The Nero Daytona exterior of this F430 is in excellent condition, and still manages to reflect light from its body from all directions thanks to the recent detailing performed on this example. As we took a full visual inspection around its body, we did not notice any scratches or dings – and areas of concern such as its side mirrors, door handles and rear lights are tightly secured to its body and are not loose. The factory original wheels were overall in great condition, with only the pair of front wheels wearing the smallest amount of markings, while the centre caps remain vibrant in colour. The surrounding emblems on the front trunk, side fenders and Pininfarina for their age are in great condition, and window trim were had no signs of cracking, or significant amount of fade from UV exposure. All of the lighting units are fully operational, while cosmetically the right rear signal cover has modern car patina – please not it does not affect its functionality. There was a slight chip observed on the bottom left side of the rear diffuser.
Interior and Trim
The black interior is enhanced with contrasting yellow stitching that is well-kept and put together, as observed from the fit and finish from the dashboard, centre console and door panels. There were slight amounts of wear noticed on the driver’s right hand side bolster, which is a common occurrence with cars of this age – however it does not affect the amount of support and firmness. There are subtle hints of carbon fibre as seen on the panels of air conditioner vents and switches, which are in factory fresh condition, just as the knobs of the climate control system. The electric buttons of the centre console are fully operational, including the Reverse button, and electronic window adjustments. The cluster gauge is functioning as it should with no missing pixels from the digital display. The door sill plates are free from any significant signs of wear or scuff marks. As expected for a car of this age, there are some markings on the ‘Ferrari’ logo on the driver’s side carpet, which can be cleaned with a small amount of TLC.
Engine and Running Gear
The 4.3L V8 switched on with the push of the button on its steering wheel – in true Ferrari fashion, it produced a superb sound that entices you to go out for a drive. This F430 accelerated in a very smooth and spectacular manner, with every shift from the F1 transmission near instant at the flick of the paddles. There were no strange sounds coming from the suspension, with the ride being a perfect balance of firm and surprisingly comfortable, with its ability to handle the uneven road surfaces in a graceful manner. With Ferrari’s soundtrack directly behind you, it was an exhilarating driving experience with this modern classic that is a part of the naturally-aspirated V8 lineup.
