The Honda Civic EG6 is a popular variant of the fifth-generation Honda Civic, which was produced from 1992 to 1995. It achieved success in various racing series, including the Japanese Touring Car Championship (JTCC) and the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), highlighting its performance capabilities. The Civic EG6 had a distinctive and aerodynamic design with rounded edges, flush headlights, and a sloping rear end. It often featured a rear spoiler and unique body trim, enhancing its sporty appearance. This particular Civic SiR is powered by a JDM B18C engine which produces roughly 170 hp (127 kW; 172 PS) at 7300 RPM and 128 lb⋅ft (174 N⋅m) torque at 6200 RPM.
Presented to you is a rare find JDM – 1992 Honda Civic EG6 SiR with a B18C 1.8L engine block. This example was made for the Japanese market. The car was swapped with a B18C 1.8 engine before being imported to Hong Kong in 2020. The seller is the first and only owner of the car in Hong Kong, therefore it shows 0 previous owners on the VRD. It has a current mileage of 164,602km. The seller stated that the engine might have been built with Toda Racing components. Modifications on this car include but are not limited to the Koyo aluminium radiator, suspension and the 16” aftermarket wheels. It is believed that the exterior was resprayed with the original factory Black paint. Please also note that the road license expired in 2021.
The exterior paint of this 1992 Honda Civic EG6 SiR is in average condition, the black paint still manages to reflect light from its body from all directions. As we looked farther around its body, we noticed some uneven surfaces, scratches, and dings; on the other hand, areas of concern such as its side mirrors, door handles, and rear lights are tightly secured to its body and are not loose. All the window trims are still in good condition and show no sign of oxidation. The rear window and hatch open and shut perfectly. The 16” matte finished aftermarket wheels are in good condition, with a few kerb rashes but no serious damage. The front and rear “Honda” emblems are present and in great condition. The Mugen front lower lip is in great condition without any defects or scratches. The headlights and tail lights are in great condition and operate normally.
Interior and Trim
Open the doors of this Honda Civic EG6 SiR, we are immediately greeted with a dark grey cloth interior. All the original seats are still in great condition without any damage to the fabric; the same goes for both door cards, they are clean and in excellent condition. All the original floormats are still present. The dashboard shows no sign of defects, cracks, or any kind of damage. All the buttons on the centre console and climate control panel are intact and free of cracks. The gear shifter and the leather-wrapped Nardi steering wheel feel great in the hands of the driver. The cluster gauge illuminates perfectly and is very easy to read. The digital clock at the centre of the dash shows accurate time and no missing pixels. There is no stereo head unit installed in this car and the rear speaker covers are missing at the time the car was inspected and photographed. Also, some surface rust was located at the spare tire area. Overall, this dark grey interior is very well-kept and put together, as observed from the fit and finish of the dashboard, centre console and door panels.
Engine and Running Gear
The 1.8-liter DOHC VTEC in-line 4-cylinder (B18C) engine starts up with no issues – another classic example of impeccable long-term Honda reliability. The 5-speed transmission shifts smoothly.
