Model History
Introduced in 2005 was one of Jeep’s boldest moves, creating a Grand Cherokee that had its eyes focused more than just its off-road capabilities. It provided the power and responsiveness most sports car enthusiasts craved for – infusing a 6.1L Hemi V8 which performance was astounding for a vehicle of its size. In 2012, Jeep not only increased the engine capacity – now a 6.4L Hemi V8 producing 470hp – they also improved the handling and overall interior and cabin experience – incorporating a level of elegance. The SRT8 is one of the most menacing SUVs available in the market.
History File
Presented to you at the Car Farm is a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 finished in Grey with a Brown interior. It is an original Jeep Hong Kong vehicle that was officially registered in 2014. Under its bonnet, lays an Arrington 426 Crate Motor, which is an engine built by Arrington (multiple award winning builder based in Michigan) 7.0L V8 with a Whipple 2.9L Supercharger – producing 826hp at the crank and 620hp at the wheels matched with a strengthened 8-Speed Automatic Transmission. It features an aftermarket set of ‘Milan’ Niche Road Wheels and Corsa Performance Exhaust. With no service history available at this moment – here is an opportunity to take home an SUV with the capability of surprising a number of sports car drivers. It has 1 previous owner and a current mileage of 19,355km.
Exterior
The Grey paint on this SRT8 is in great condition, as observed the amount of light which reflects off of its body. We did not notice any significant imperfections across its whole body – with all panels remaining aligned and straight. All of the emblems across including the Jeep, Grand Cherokee SRT8 and 6.4L Hemi – are vibrant in colour with no signs of oxidation or patina. As expected of a vehicle of this calibre, a minor amount of stone chips were observed across its front section. The aggressive bonnet is not missing any of its mesh inserts, and al of the grilles are intact. The headlights, side indicators (located on the side mirrors) and rear lights are crystal clear, and illuminate as they should. There were slight amounts of kerb rash observed on the aftermarket ‘Milan’ Niche Road Wheels – however these do not affect its performance or shape – behind them are the factory original Brembo brake calipers. All of the 5 doors open and close in a smooth manner with no squeaks or roughness.
Interior and Trim
Open up the doors of this menacing SUV, we are greeted with a modern Jeep interior, with a touch screen infotainment system, chrome and carbon fibre trim. To remind you that you are in an SRT – the steering wheel and front seats are branded with SRT. The door panels remain tightly secured to the door, the ambient lighting within the door handle illuminated properly and the centre console remains free from any significant scratches. There were no major creases observed on the front seats, and all of the electronic seat adjustments were fully operational. All of the cabin buttons, from the climate control system, to the multi-functioning steering wheel were working as they should. The cluster gauge was not missing any pixels and displayed accurate readings.
Engine and Running Gear
Take a seat on the driver’s seat and push the automatic start button, alive comes the growl of the mighty Arrington 426 – 7.0L V8 through the Corsa Performance Exhaust. Depending on the driver – there are options to switch gears via the steering wheel mounted shifters, or the transmission can be left in D/S mode taking control of all 826hp. Despite its large power output, the SRT8 remained composed on almost all the journeys – confirming its identity as an SUV. Although understeer may be felt – it can be easily rectified with the press of the throttle to balance it out. The sheer power and stability of the SRT8 is amazing – being able to give sports car drivers a challenge, whilst remaining composed and if you decide – allowing to transport your family and friends in comfort – with the ride not being too harsh. Here is your opportunity to drive home an unassuming American Muscle car packaged in an SUV for everyday duties – now offered to you at the Car Farm.
