Description
Model History
In 2013, the W212 received a facelift, that was reported to be Mercedes Benz’s most significant model revision including styling changes, improved engines, additional standard equipment and several extra technologically advanced features. Visually, Mercedes Benz, switched the headlights to single units (ending the era or dual headlights) whilst still keeping the four-eyes appearance. Specifically for the E63 AMG model, a new M157 twin-turbo 5.4L V8 was introduced, producing 549hp, matched with the car maker’s AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-Speed Sports Transmission – catapulting this luxury sedan from 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds. The E63 was offered in two drivetrains, either the traditional rear-wheel drive or the optional 4MATIC (all-wheel drive) system.
History File
Presented to you at the Car Farm is a 2013 Mercedes Benz E63 AMG Facelift from the W212 generation. It is an original Zung Fu Hong Kong car finished in Diamond White Metallic with a black leather interior. Since taking ownership of this example, the current owner has spared no expense at keeping it in optimal running condition, including the replacement of the fuel pump, water pump, 8 ignition coils and spark plugs, as well as a pair of front brake discs, along with forged wheels and wrapped around Michelin PS4S tyres. It received a recent engine oil change and air-filter change in February 2022 (approximately 2,000km mileage ago). The steuergeraet control computer or control unit has also been replaced with a brand new factory unit. Throughout their ownership, any warning lights that appeared were immediately rectified. This example has 2 previous owners, a current mileage of 82,466km and a valid road license until 4th December 2022.
Exterior
The Polar White paint on this E63 is overall in great condition, with only the slightest amount of stone chips observed on the front bumper (towards the right hand corner’s parking sensors and air vent) – which is expected for a fast executive saloon. Minor scratches were observed on the bottom right hand corner of the front bumper as well as the left hand corner. As we move to the rear section, the right rear diffuser above the right hand side twin exhaust pipe has a needle size scratch. The Ravize Forged wheels are finished in a handsome shade of dark gold with silver with a small amount of kerb rash, which can be rectified with a minor refurbishment. The newly designed single headlight unit that retains its ‘four-eyes’ is free from any imperfections, the same is observed for the rear lights and side indicators located on the side mirrors. The chrome badges throughout, such as the V8 BI TURBO, E63 and AMG badges are free from oxidation, with their surfaces remaining shiny. After a complete walk-around, all of the body panels and bumpers are aligned.
Interior and Trim
Open up the doors of this fast executive and luxurious saloon, we are greeted with a quality interior, staying true to Mercedes Benz’s tradition. As expected for a car that is approaching 10 years old, there are slight creases on the right hand side bolsters of the driver’s seat – which does not affect its ability to support the driver as the seat remains firm. The front seats have the exclusive AMG badging, and the rear seats are close to factory fresh. All four door panels are tightly secured to the body, with built-in ambient lighting and are not sagging in any form. The buttons remain clearly visible and are operating as they should. The cluster gauge illuminates and provides the driver with the essentials, while all of the buttons located in the centre are not sticky, with the text clearly visible, and the COMAND Infotainment system is free from any missing pixels and is operating as it was intended. The steering wheel and shift knob are free from any blemishes, and in the centre of the air vents rests an analogue IWC Schaffhausen clock. The dashboard is free from any cracks or fade, with the subtle black stitching not showing any loose threads.
Engine and Running Gear
With just the push of the Engine/Start button, the 5.4L V8 bi-turbo unit comes to life. In true Mercedes Benz tradition, we heard the subtle purr from the V8 as it idled during warm up from the factory original exhaust. Due to its nature, this E63 AMG’s highlights are in its low-end torque, and despite its large displacement, the owner reports that it does not have a significantly high fuel consumption – as the driver may stay in the low-rpm range yet is able to utilise the horsepower. The original suspension does a great job at keeping this saloon planted to the ground both around the corners and long straights, while providing a comfortable and surprisingly ‘light’ feeling despite its dimensions and size. Thanks to the replacement of the front brake discs, this E63 AMG stopped at a short distance in a straight line. The AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-Speed Sports Transmission provided swift and smooth gear changes – all of the in-cabin electronics worked as they should with no malfunctions. Your chance at experiencing one of Mercedes Benz AMG’s finest executive saloons with sports car performance, exclusively at the Car Farm.
