Model History
In 1993, Porsche introduced the 993 as the successor of the 964. The 993 was offered in many variants, from the Carrera, Targa, the Turbo and the almighty GT2. The 993 Carrera hosted a 3.6L flat-six engine with the same bore and stroke as its predecessor the 964. With a power output of 272hp, there were two available transmissions – the 4-Speed Tiptronic Automatic or the 5-Speed manual transmission. Unofficially crowned as the most sophisticated and prettiest 911 of all time, the 993 is an appreciating classic.
History File
Presented to you at the Car Farm is a highly sought after Aventurine Green Metallic 911 (993) Carrera Tiptronic. The car was originally imported and sold new as a Jebsen (Porsche Hong Kong) car. It was first registered in Hong Kong on 30th August 1995. The current owner has owned it for over 20 years. It has had four previous owners, and the current odometer reading is 29,305km; however, due to the instrument cluster quitted operating for a year so the true mileage remains unknown. The car is mostly in stock condition. Modification on this Porsche is limited to an aftermarket amplifier. The current road licence is valid until 30th May 2024.
Exterior
This 993 Carrera features the classic 911 silhouette with a distinctive round shape and sloping rear end. The body is straight and panels line up perfectly, however the wear this Aventurine Green Metallic paint has experienced over 28 years is noticeable on some surfaces, the front and rear bumpers are intact with few minor surface blemishes, front boot lid and right side rear corner show cracks in paint, taillight casing on the right side has some surface cracking as well as the paint on the roof surface has begun to fade but All these issues can benefit from some TLC to restore their original appearance and condition. Both side doors, the front boot lid and the rear engine cover open and close normally. Both side door mirrors and door handles are intact. The headlights, tail lights, and side markers operate normally. The 17″ Porsche Cup Design wheels are well taken care of, only a couple kerb marks were observed on both rear Porsche alloy wheels, but these aesthetic imperfections can be resolved with a refurbishment to restore their original appearance – the rest of the Porsche alloy wheels are in good condition. All the Porsche exterior emblems and badges are present and are in great condition. The sunroof opens and closes as it should – its surrounding trim is all intact.
Interior and Trim
Opening up the doors of this iconic 993 Carrera, we are greeted with an original classic Porsche interior optioned with grey leather. The iconic 5 cluster gauges that span across the dashboard and a cockpit designed purely for the driver in mind. The front driver leather seat does display some surface cracking and signs of use from over the years but can be refurbished to restore their original appearance. All the seats remain supportive of the occupants as well as the rear seats. The leather steering wheel is in good condition. The Tiptronic automatic transmission lever and transmission tunnel surface is all intact with no signs of serious wear, as well as the handbrake. Both side door sills and panels are intact with very minor surface scratches. The dashboard on both its leather upholstered surfaces and plastic trim is intact with no tired surfaces. The Nakamichi stereo head unit has no missing pixels on its LCD display and functions normally. All of the buttons and switches have reassuring mechanical ‘clicks’ and none are missing any trim or show signs of their age.
Engine and Running Gear
Switching on this 993 Carrera was a trouble-free experience – the 3.6L flat-six engine gave its signature air-cooled rumble. The engine was responsive and was not hesitant to be revved to the redline. The steering and all of the inputs were all responsive, allowing the driver to feel fully engaged when driving this analog Porsche sports coupe. The Tiptronic automatic transmission was reactive and not sluggish. The factory brake system is responsive to use and provide plenty of stopping power to bring this 993 Carrera to a prompt halt. All the suspension was well balanced – allowing for a comfortable ride in the city whilst remaining planted and inspiring confidence in the chassis when taken out on the open roads.
