Description
Model History
The Porsche 964 was introduced in 1989 and produced until 1994. In true 911 fashion, the overall lines and design of its predecessor the G-Body 911 was a familiar sight on the 964, with subtle changes such as the introduction of the seamless (integrated) front and rear bumpers for better aerodynamics. The Carrera 2 was equipped with Porsche’s M64 naturally aspirated 3.6L flat-six engine producing 247hp, with goodies such as power steering and ABS. There were two transmissions available, 5-Speed Manual or the first ever 4-Speed Tiptronic – which Porsche described as the best balance of both worlds – in terms of sportiness and everyday drivability.
History File
This stunning 1991 Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Cabriolet is equipped with the 4-Speed Tiptronic transmission, it is a well maintained example with noticeable upgrades including a RUF exhaust, MOMO Prototipo steering wheel and red seat belts. This 964 C2 Cabriolet is an original Hong Kong Car with 20 previous owners, a current mileage of 89,124km and a valid road license until October 12th, 2021.
Exterior
As expected with a car that is 30 years old, there were minuscule signs of imperfection around its body. Most noticeably a small ding on the driver’s door, bubbling on the outside of the rear window and left rear wheel arch. There are signs of classic car patina around the signal lights and depending on the next owner, small amounts of TLC would be needed to refresh this 964’s appearance. All of the body panels were aligned which confirm that this is a non accident car. Most importantly, this soft top is in good condition, with no tears, fade or yellowing of the rear window.
Interior and Trim
Upon opening the doors of the 964, you are greeted with Porsche’s healthy signature door click and clunk when closing the doors. The 964 aroma fills the air, the black interior is in very good condition with small amounts of fade as shown on the door panel. The front and rear seats are all very supportive and firm, with little to no signs of wear. All of the 5 signature gauges are in working condition, as well as the climate control buttons and all instruments. Take a seat as a driver, you notice that the pedals are offset to the left in true Porsche fashion, with all of its interior carpeting in great condition. The aftermarket MOMO Prototipo is in great condition with yellow contrasting stitching.
Engine and Running Gear
Upon firing up the flat-six engine of this 964, the whole experience was very smooth, the engine did not stutter and was strong – the signature burbles were accentuated by the RUF exhaust – with no signs of excessive smoke coming out of the exhaust. Upon test drive, the Tiptronic gearbox was responsive – the original brakes and suspension performed adequately – giving us confidence around the corners. There was definitely a learning curve to applying the right amount of pressure on the accelerator to make the most out of the 964’s acceleration around the corners due to the automatic gearbox. If you are looking for a 964 Convertible that is suitable for both city driving and spirited drives, and willing to give it the TLC it deserves, this 964 is now open to accepting bids exclusively at the Car Farm.
