Model History
The Type 993 was the last 911 to receive the air-cooled treatment before constricting environmental regulations forced Porsche into water-cooled engines. Of the 993 generation, the Turbo is among one of the most prestigious and sought after given its high horsepower, spectacular performance, and limited availability. It is powered by the 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine producing 402bhp, with all-wheel drive via a six-speed manual gearbox. To many the 993 was the best during the evolution of the real 911 and the Turbo was the ultimate example of the mechanical air cooled Porsche’s. 993 Turbos have an amazingly increased in value as good examples are rare today.
History File
This fine example we have listed for auction at the Car Farm is a original Porsche Jebsen car that was first delivered in 1995 but never registered. It was delivered in the gorgeous Arena Red launch colour combined with the light grey leather interior. The first owner then bought the car with him to Australia when leaving Hong Kong. This immaculately presented example was then imported back to Hong Kong in 2008 and registered. An accident free car, The previous owner of this 993 Turbo sold the car to the current owner with a little over 1,000km on the odometer. Now reading 23,883km, the car has been maintained to the highest of standards with full service history from Jebsen and Porsche specialists confirms the cars provenance and it’s condition shows how loved this car has been in all those years under ownership by the current and previous owners. Truly one of the best examples you can find in the global market today.
Exterior
On inspection, there is no mistaking the Arena Red launch colour is one of the most eye catching for the 993 Turbo. The paintwork is of immaculate condition with very little marks around the whole car. Even the front bumper seems to have very few marks that are visible marks. Except for a small stone dent on the passenger side door near the door handle, the body is in immaculate condition. All the badging is like new as are the window mouldings and door frames. Small details like the washout injectors are perfect and rear fender protection film have no yellowing or cracks appearing. Front headlights and rear lights all in perfect ‘as new’ condition. Overall, the exterior of the car presents in perfect condition except for the small stone dent on the door and possibly the renewal of a new sunroof felt trim that seems to be coming away. It rides on the original 18-inch Turbo alloys, which are in superb order.
Interior and Trim
Moving to the cabin, the interior is presented cleanly and free of any yellowing of grey interior panels as seen with most grey interiors due to age. Retaining the original Porsche 993 Becker Grand Prix audio unit and original Porsche floor mats, the interior quality matches that of the exterior. All electric’s work perfectly as they should and the air conditioning is one of the most powerful we have seen on a Porsche 993. On our test drive, the air conditioning blew fresh and cold and could withstand the 30 degrees plus heat. All the leather from the headliner, seats, the door panels, steering wheel, gear knob and dash was unmarked and matched the usage of the car. The foot pedals also. At the front of the car, the boot lining is in good order, and the tool roll, tyre compressor and space-saver spare wheel are present.
Engine and Running Gear
This is evidently a fastidiously maintained example of the 993 Turbo, and the attention-to-detail extends to not only the engine bay. On lifting up that signature Turbo spoiler, you are presented with a very clean engine bay. The cooling fan and fan shroud is immaculately clean from any oil and grease. On inspection of the underside, there was no evidence of any oil leaks or anything that caught our eye that was unusual. The underside was clean and shows the car has maybe been detailed to perfection in the past to keep this example as it should. On drive, this example drove superbly with no knocks or bangs coming from the front or rear suspension. The gear change was smooth and performed as it should. The VARTA battery is dated 25th September 2019.
This Porsche 993 Turbo is a cherished, low-mileage example of a coveted 911, presented in superb mechanical condition throughout. The car comes with the two original keys and owners manual, toolkit, tyre compressor and service history file. It would be a stunning addition to any collection. Furthermore, its excellent maintenance history means this 911 drives superbly, and is ready to thrill on the road with its addictive analogue performance.
