Model History
Kei cars, also known as keijidōsha, are small, compact vehicles that adhere to specific regulations set by the Japanese government. The Suzuki Cappuccino is a two-seater roadster with a detachable hardtop that is designed to meet Japanese Kei car regulations. It is powered by a turbocharged 657cc three-cylinder engine. Despite its small size, the Cappuccino’s lightweight construction allows it to deliver lively performance and nimble handling.
History File
Presented to you at the Car Farm is a 1993 Suzuki Cappuccino. This example has only 2 previous owners. This was originally made for the Japanese market before being imported to Hong Kong. Modifications reported on this car include a pair of Lotus Exige seats, “Aerodisc” style aftermarket wheels, BLitz suspension, aftermarket exhaust (Kakimoto Racing), side over fenders, an aftermarket boost gauge, Apexi intake and aftermarket oil catch can. As far as the maintenance goes, the top end portion of its engine and gearbox rebuilt; new clutch, intercooler and radiator were installed as well as the dashboard, center console and side door cards. The car was resprayed in Pearl White, done by a previous owner. The seller also stated that some spare parts will be included with the sale such as a spare clutch, spare instrument cluster and a spare set of 13 inch aftermarket wheels with tires. The current owner also recently performed a full wheel alignment service. This Suzuki has a current mileage of 70,582km. The road license is valid till 6th December, 2023.
Exterior
The exterior paint of this Suzuki Cappuccino is in great condition, the premium Pearl White paint manages to reflect light from its body from all directions. As we looked farther around its body, we did not notice any obvious rusts, scratches or dings – and areas of concern such as its side mirrors, door handles and rear lights are tightly secured to its body and are not loose. All body panels lines up straight and perfect. The aftermarket wheels are overall in great condition, pairing with set of New Nexen tires. The surrounding rubber trims are in great condition showing no signs of cracking. The headlights, side indicators and rear lights remain crystal clear and all illuminate as they should. The hardtop is also in great condition without sign of any paint issue.
Interior and Trim
Open the doors of this Suzuki Cappuccino, we are immediately greeted with a black Alcantara leather interior. The upgraded Lotus Exige cloth seats are still in great condition. They are very firm and supportive. The door cards are also wrapped with Alcantara material with red stitching. The dashboard is completely covered with Alcantara fabric which is fabulously easy to clean and maintain. All the buttons on the centre console are free of cracks. The gear shifter and the Nardi Torino Classic steering wheel feels great in the hands of the driver. The cluster gauge illuminates perfectly and easy to read. Please noted that the car doesn’t come with a stereo head unit which allows new owner to install audio system if desired. The black interior is very well-kept and put together, as observed from the fit and finish from the dashboard, centre console and door panels. The panel of air conditioning system is in great condition without missing any switches.
Engine and Running Gear
The turbocharged 657cc three-cylinder engine fired up with no hesitation. As the engine was warming up, we did not notice any excessive smoke or strange smells coming from the exhaust and engine respectively. During our test drive, it is in true Kei car/roadster driving dynamics, very fast and nimble to drive, we were very confident around the tight and fast corners. The 5-speed manual gearbox (cable clutch) is precise to use with each gear change directly with all its gears without any problems. The brakes offer plenty of stopping power to bring this powerful roadster to a halt. To conclude, it gives you a RAW driving dynamic; at the same time, it could be a fun and passionate JDM daily drivable Kei car. This Suzuki Cappuccino is now exclusive available at the Car Farm.
